PM joins BNP’s 48th founding anniversary discussion

Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman today joined a discussion marking the 48th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

The discussion began around 3:45pm at the Bangladesh Krishibid Institution auditorium in the capital under the slogan, “Korbo Kaj, Gorbo Desh, Shobar Age Bangladesh” (We will work, build the country, Bangladesh first).

The programme opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a one-minute silence in memory of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, former BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and all martyrs.

The national anthem and party anthem were then played, followed by a documentary highlighting the party’s 48-year history.

Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman founded the BNP on September 1, 1978. The party’s five-day central programme marking the anniversary, which began last Tuesday, concluded today with the discussion.

BNP Acting Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi chaired the event, while Central Publicity Secretary and State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku moderated the discussion.

Several BNP Standing Committee members, including Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed and Selima Rahman, attended the programme.

Economist Mahbub Ullah, other members of the BNP National Standing Committee and invited eminent personalities also took part in the discussion.
