Gold prices reduced by Tk4,374 per bhori in Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has lowered gold prices in the local market by Tk4,374 per bhori, following a decline in the price of pure gold.

The revised rates came into effect from 10am on September 2. Under the new pricing, 22-carat gold, including VAT, is now being sold at Tk2,31,880 per bhori.

Meanwhile, 21-carat gold has been set at Tk2,21,441 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk1,90,123 per bhori, and traditional gold at Tk1,55,306 per bhori.

Bajus said the updated prices will remain effective at jewellery shops until further notice, while additional making charges may apply depending on the design of ornaments.

The association noted that VAT is already included in the gold ornament prices and cannot be charged separately by jewellers.

This is the second gold price reduction within a few days, after Bajus cut prices by the same amount on August 31.

So far in 2026, gold prices in Bangladesh have been revised 110 times, with 55 increases, 54 decreases and one VAT-related adjustment.

Silver prices have also been reduced. The price of 22-carat silver dropped by Tk116 per bhori to Tk5,016, while 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional silver now cost Tk4,782, Tk4,082 and Tk3,091 per bhori respectively.
