Robert Pattinson Reveals How His Dream Car Turned Into a ‘Humiliating’ Experience During Twilight Fame

Robert Pattinson has opened up about an unexpected downside of his early Hollywood success, recalling how a dream car he bought during the height of Twilight fame repeatedly left him embarrassed in public.

In a recent interview with GQ, Pattinson reflected on his relationship with cars and revealed that he bought a Shelby Mustang while working on the Twilight franchise. The actor said the vehicle was the kind of car he had dreamed about owning since childhood. 

However, the reality of owning the classic muscle car quickly became frustrating. Pattinson explained that he soon discovered it was not particularly practical as an everyday vehicle and frequently suffered mechanical problems.

What made the incidents worse was that the breakdowns often happened in front of large groups of tourists, leaving the actor with little choice but to get out and push the car to the side of the road. 

The experience eventually convinced Pattinson that he needed something more dependable rather than simply something that looked impressive.

The story offers a humorous glimpse into Pattinson's life after Twilight transformed him from a relatively unknown actor into an international star. His portrayal of Edward Cullen made him one of the biggest young actors of the era, while his later career has increasingly focused on unconventional and critically acclaimed roles.

Pattinson is now enjoying another busy period in his career, with appearances in The Drama and The Odyssey in 2026. He is also set to appear in Primetime and Dune: Part Three, while continuing his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming The Batman: Part II. 

Despite his current blockbuster status, Pattinson's story about his unreliable Mustang serves as a reminder that even a celebrity's dream purchase can sometimes become a source of frustration—and, in his case, a rather public
