
National Press Club member, freedom fighter and veteran journalist Mrinal Krishna Roy has died at the age of 84.
He passed away at a hospital in the capital early Sunday, leaving behind his wife, two sons, relatives, colleagues and admirers.
His funeral was held at the Postogola crematorium after tributes were paid to him at the National Press Club in the afternoon.
Roy began his journalism career with The Pakistan Observer in 1965. He later worked for the now-defunct Bangladesh Times, the Financial Express and the state-run news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).
National Press Club President Hasan Hafiz, General Secretary Ayub Bhuiyan, along with BJRF President Azizul Islam Bhuiyan and General Secretary Ataur Rahman, expressed deep shock and condolences at his death in a statement. They prayed for the eternal peace of his soul and conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family
