Australia Awami League President Advocate Dr Md Sirajul Haque has said former prime minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina is physically and mentally fit and appears to be stronger, more determined and confident than before.

"After meeting her, I felt that she is stronger, more resolute and more confident than ever before. A section is spreading various rumours about her physical condition, but there is no basis for such claims. These are completely false and motivated," he said.

Dr Sirajul Haque made the remarks in an exclusive interview with *Dainik Bangalolok* after holding a long courtesy meeting with Sheikh Hasina in New Delhi on July 12, 2026.

"We were with the leader from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm. During our nearly six-hour conversation, she appeared completely normal, cheerful and lively. Listening to her thoughts, discussions and plans for the country, I felt that she was much stronger and more confident than at any other time," he said.

He said Sheikh Hasina listened attentively to everyone and discussed the overall situation in Bangladesh, the organisational condition of the Awami League, the role of expatriate party leaders and activists, and the country's future.

"Her love for the people of Bangladesh and her commitment to democracy and development-oriented politics remain unchanged," he said.

Dr Sirajul Haque said he personally spent a considerable amount of time with Sheikh Hasina and did not find any sign that she was ill or weak.

"Rather, she appeared healthy, energetic and full of enthusiasm," he said.

According to him, Sheikh Hasina's sense of responsibility towards the country and its people has made her even stronger. He said her primary concerns remain democracy, development and the welfare of the people, rather than personal matters.

Barrister Biplab Barua, Barrister Sh M Rezaul Karim, Al Noman Shamim, Gama Abdul Quader, Dr Hasnat Milton, Advocate Amrin and Advocate Dr Sirajul Haque were present during the meeting with Sheikh Hasina.

The discussions reportedly covered Bangladesh's current political situation, the Awami League's future plans and various issues concerning Bangladeshis living abroad.

The president of Australia Awami League said Sheikh Hasina was sincere towards party leaders and activists, inquired about their well-being and urged them to remain steadfast.

"She believes that the strength of the people is the greatest strength of the Awami League," he said.

He said Sheikh Hasina also called upon party leaders and activists to remain united and to maintain patience, prudence and organisational strength in any adverse situation.

"She urged everyone to remain beside the people and continue working for democracy, development and the welfare of the country," he said.

Dr Sirajul Haque said he was deeply inspired after spending several hours with Sheikh Hasina.

"I saw no frustration in her. Rather, I saw extraordinary confidence, determination and deep love for Bangladesh. She is highly optimistic and believes that the people of the country will always stand for truth, justice and development," he said.

"I can firmly say that Sheikh Hasina is completely fit and is much stronger, more confident and more determined than before. Her love for the people of Bangladesh and her unwavering commitment to working for the country have made me hopeful once again," he added.
