Prime Minister attends President’s oath-taking ceremony at Bangabhaban

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman entered Bangabhaban on Friday evening to attend the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

The prime minister arrived at Bangabhaban at 7:08pm. The state ceremony for Alamgir’s swearing-in as the country’s 23rd president is being held at the Darbar Hall.

Tight security measures have been put in place at Bangabhaban and surrounding areas for the ceremony. Ministers, state ministers, chiefs of the three armed forces, members of parliament, judges, diplomats and other prominent figures and invited guests from various professions are attending the event.

Earlier, at around 6pm, outgoing acting President Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmad Bir Bikram arrived at Bangabhaban.

All preparations for the president’s oath-taking ceremony have already been completed at the Darbar Hall.
