Prime Minister Tarique Rahman formally nominated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir as the BNP’s candidate for president at a meeting of the party’s Standing Committee today.
The proposal to nominate Mirza Fakhrul was put forward by the Prime Minister and was unanimously approved by the members of the Standing Committee.
The meeting took place in the meeting room of the Cabinet Division at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Bangladesh Secretariat.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salah Uddin Ahmed, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Selima Rahman and AZM Zahid Hossain were, among others, present at the meeting.
