Remittance inflow rises 25.6% to $2.14 billion in August

Expatriate Bangladeshis sent $2.148 billion in remittances during the first 22 days of August, marking a 25.6% increase from the same period last year, according to Bangladesh Bank data.

The country received $2.148 billion between August 1 and August 22 of the current fiscal year, compared with $1.711 billion during the corresponding period of FY2025-26.

During August 20-22 alone, Bangladesh received $117 million in remittances.

Cumulative remittance inflows from July 1 to August 22 reached $5.006 billion in FY2026-27, up 19.5% from the $4.188 billion recorded during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Bangladesh Bank data shows continued growth in remittance inflows through formal banking channels, with expatriate Bangladeshis maintaining strong contributions to the country’s foreign exchange earnings.
