Dhaka, September 12, 2026: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has sought the active cooperation of people across the country to combat the nationwide dengue outbreak and build a cleaner country while protecting the environment.
He made the call on Saturday morning while formally inaugurating a three-month special dengue prevention and cleanliness campaign at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
In his speech, the prime minister said the government would make every possible effort over the next three months to bring the dengue situation under control. Although eliminating dengue completely overnight is not possible, he said the situation can be brought under control through collective efforts.
He urged every citizen to spend at least one hour each week cleaning and maintaining the areas around their homes, workplaces or educational institutions.
The prime minister also called on young people to play a leading role in rebuilding the state and nation and to actively participate in the campaign.
He stressed the importance of preventing the creation of breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes and urged people not to indiscriminately dispose of plastic, paper or other waste. He also emphasised mosquito control at the source as a key measure to prevent dengue.
The nationwide three-month dengue prevention and cleanliness campaign began on September 12 and will continue until December 12, 2026.
