Four new members to join Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s cabinet

Four new members are set to join the cabinet led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The new members will take their oaths today, Friday, August 21, 2026, at 7:30pm at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban, alongside newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s swearing-in ceremony.

The four new cabinet members are Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, a member of the BNP Standing Committee; Barrister Andalib Rahman Partha, chairman of the Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP); Saching Prue Jerry, a lawmaker from Bandarban; and Mohammad Shamim Kaiser Lincoln, a member of parliament from Gaibandha-4.

The inclusion of the new members may lead to changes or reshuffling in several key ministries, including civil aviation, agriculture, food, power and energy, local government, and information and broadcasting.

The joint oath taking ceremony is being organised under the supervision of the Cabinet Division, with around 1,200 guests invited to attend.

The ceremony will take place at 7:30pm today at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban, where newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will also take his oath.
