All govt agencies must coordinate to tackle flood situation: Fakhrul

LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said all government institutions must work in close coordination to effectively manage the ongoing flood situation.

“The agencies concerned should give the highest priority to rescue operations, relief distribution, healthcare services, supply of safe drinking water, and restoration of damaged infrastructure,” Fakhrul said while chairing an inter-ministerial meeting at the Cabinet Division conference room at the Secretariat.

The meeting was convened to strengthen coordination in tackling the flood situation triggered by recent heavy rainfall and flash floods from upstream hilly areas across different parts of the country, as well as to enhance emergency response and related activities.

At the outset, the minister called on all relevant ministries, divisions and agencies to work in close coordination to address the evolving flood situation.
