Television channels across Bangladesh are airing special programmes today to commemorate the 85th death anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, celebrating his lasting contributions to literature, music and the arts.
Channel i will broadcast the Bangla film Shasti at 3:05 pm. Directed by Chashi Nazrul Islam and written by Mamtazuddin Ahmed, the 2004 film was the first Bangladeshi cinematic adaptation of Tagore’s literary works. The cast includes Ilias Kanchan, Champa, Riaz, Purnima, Shahidul Alam Sachchu, ATM Shamsuzzaman and Nasrin.
Duronto TV has arranged several programmes throughout the day. At 12:00 pm, it will air Megher Kole Rod Heseche, a musical programme featuring Tagore’s songs performed by Anandi Ghosh, Ramiza Hasan, Din Islam Imran, Ariba Zaman and Bidyastuti Singh.
At 5:30 pm, the channel will present Robir Kiron, a dramatic performance based on selected poems by Tagore, featuring young artistes from Kalparekha.
Later at 10:00 pm, Duronto TV will screen the short films Madho, directed by Sumana Siddiqui, and Dakghar, directed by Lucy Tripti Gomez.
Meanwhile, NTV will air the dance programme Nrityaloke Rabindranath at 6:45 pm, showcasing performances inspired by Tagore’s songs and poetry.
