Bangladesh’s Garment exports to EU decline 16.43% in first half of 2026

Bangladesh’s garment exports to the European Union fell 16.43 percent year-on-year to €8.64 billion during the January-June period of 2026, according to data from Eurostat, the EU’s statistical office.

During the first six months, the volume of exports declined 8.22 percent year-on-year, while prices fell 8.94 percent.

However, shipments from Bangladesh to the EU increased 6.53 percent in volume terms in June compared with the same month a year earlier. In value terms, exports during the month declined 5.31 percent, according to Eurostat data.

The EU’s apparel imports from global markets also fell 9.7 percent year-on-year to €41.1 billion in the first half of 2026. Import volumes declined 6.4 percent, while average prices dropped 3.53 percent.

During the same period, Vietnam’s garment exports to the EU increased 0.36 percent to €2.06 billion. Its shipment volume fell 11.52 percent, but prices increased 13.43 percent.

Meanwhile, apparel shipments from China, Turkey, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Cambodia to the EU also declined.
